The Brilliant Things are delighted to announce they will be playing at this years Oxegen festival in Ireland and The Isle of Wight festival UK this summer.
They are currently really enjoying promoting thier new single 'Rise' which is about the world we live in today and is due for digital release on 12th June 2009
So far they have been to KCLR 96fm, WLRfm, BEATfm, East Coast FM, Dublin City Fm, and performed their version of The Mama's and Papa's "California Dreaming" live on The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show on Today FM.

The Brilliant Things having a blast on their Irish Tour

The Brilliant Things are really enjoying their Irish tour. They had a return gig back at Captain America's in Tallaght, and after that to Mayo to The Royal Theatre in Castlebar supporting The Blizzards. The lively audience were shouting for more and saying "we love you" and shaking hands and taking pictures with the band after their set.

Tara Blaise in Barbados

Tara Blaise is just back from Barbados where she was invited to do the play 'Seven Deadly Sins, Four Sinners' with Sarah Crowe, Sue Holderness and Belinda Lang. The director was Marc Sinden. The play is "an anthology evening of wicked comedy, heavenly drama, devishly tall tales, enchanting poetry and seductive stories, compiled from the works of nearly everyone with a sense of humour from Chaucer to Victoria Wood, from Woody Allen to Oscar Wilde via Flanders and Swann, Joyce Grenfell, Steven Berkoff and Noel Coward - by the award winning scriptwriter and author of the first six Carry On films Norman Hudis" Tara was part of The Holder's Season and performed in the garden at Holder's House - a traditional Plantation House dating from the 17th centruy, set in 5 acres of formal and park gardens.
The Brilliant Things Start an Irish Tour

The Brilliant Things have started their first Irish tour and on drums with them is Geoffery French, Greg's cousin. The first two dates one in The Purty Loft in Monkstown on Friday 27th and the second on Saturday 28th was in Captian America's in Tallaght where the crowd were shouting for more and even dancing on the tables! A great weekend had by all and they are very excited to be on the road and hope to see everyone along the way.

Tara Blaise and The Brilliant Things attended the Meteor Awards and had a great night. Congratulations to Imelda May and all the other winners. It was a great night with great live performances and thanks to everyone who organised it.
Tara Blaise Nominated in Meteor Awards

Ireland’s Meteor Awards are the annual music industry’s recognition of the great and the good, and Tara Blaise features in the 2009 Awards – she has been nominated in the category of ‘Best Irish Female Artist’.
Hosted by Amanda Byram, the 2009 Meteor Awards will be held in Dublin’s Royal Dublin Showground on St Patrick’s Day, Tuesday 17th March 2009, and televised on RTE 2 the following day.
Tara’s category is decided by public vote, which is live from now. Irish residents can vote by texting VOTE to 085 7114444 to receive a list of keywords and categories. (Meteor customers on plans such as Offer of a Lifetime or Free Texts for Life can text FREE). Voting is open to all Irish mobile networks and will be charged at standard text rates.
Online voting is available now at http://meteormusicawards.meteor.ie/nominees.aspx ; everyone who votes will be automatically entered into a competition to win tickets to the 2009 Awards.
19 awards in total are to be won, of which 8 categories will be decided by music fans. Other nominees for ‘Best Irish Female Artist’ are Lisa Hannigan, Gemma Hayes, Imelda May and Camille O’Sullivan, so don’t delay, vote today! Finally, we have a website fit for human consumption. Today sees the official launch of our new site, and the plot upon which this fine online headquarters has been located has ample room for expansion. Plans are afoot for our own 'radio station' and the whole Spokes catalogue will be available for download soon through our own online bijoux boutique.

Fans in Ireland may have seen Tara featured in The Sunday Independent as part of the launch of a new Tommy Hilfiger store. Some figures on the Irish music scene including Tara, Turlough Gunawardhana of The Chapters, Brian Darcy of Ham Sandwich and Karen McCartney of Cowboy X have been photographed in various Hilfiger outfits from a new range. With the imminent UK release of Tara Blaise's single Breathe, Radio 2's Terry Wogan, arbiter of the nation's cereal munching musical taste, has taken a liking to it and has aired it several times during the past 3 weeks.
